Please read these terms carefully before using TapToRing. By using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Important: By accessing or using TapToRing, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our app.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the TapToRing mobile application ("Service," "App," or "TapToRing"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms apply to all users of the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. Description of Service

TapToRing is a digital doorbell application that allows users to:

  • Create and customize digital doorbells
  • Share digital doorbells with friends, family, and others
  • Receive notifications when someone rings their doorbell
  • Ring other users' shared doorbells
  • Reply to doorbell ring events
  • Use location-based features including geofencing
  • Customize doorbell sounds and appearance

The Service is provided free of charge, and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use TapToRing, you must create an account using one of the following methods:

  • Email and password
  • Google Sign-In
  • Apple Sign-In

3.2 Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Providing accurate and complete information when creating your account

3.3 Account Requirements

You must:

  • Be at least 13 years of age to use this Service
  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate and current

4. Acceptable Use Policy

4.1 Permitted Use

You may use TapToRing for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to use the Service:

  • In any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • To harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate any person
  • To impersonate or attempt to impersonate another user or person
  • To send spam, advertising, or promotional materials without permission
  • To transmit viruses, malware, or any malicious code
  • To interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • To attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts

4.2 Prohibited Content

You may not create, share, or transmit content that:

  • Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
  • Infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other proprietary rights
  • Contains software viruses or any other harmful code
  • Violates the privacy or publicity rights of others
  • Is false, misleading, or fraudulent

4.3 Bell Ringing Etiquette

When using TapToRing to ring someone's doorbell, you agree to:

  • Ring doorbells only when you have a legitimate reason to contact the owner
  • Not spam or excessively ring doorbells
  • Respect the owner's response time and boundaries
  • Use the reply feature appropriately and respectfully

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you create or upload to the Service, including:

  • Bell names and descriptions
  • Custom sounds and images
  • Replies and messages
  • Profile information

5.2 License to Use Your Content

By uploading content to TapToRing, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, store, modify, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service.

5.3 Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or that we find objectionable, without notice and at our sole discretion.

5.4 Rate Limits

To prevent abuse, we implement rate limits on certain features:

  • Maximum 10 replies per minute per user per bell
  • Reply text limited to 500 characters
  • We may implement additional limits to ensure fair use

6. Location Services

6.1 Location Permissions

TapToRing offers location-based features including:

  • Setting bell locations on a map
  • Geofencing notifications when approaching a bell
  • Sorting bells by distance

6.2 Background Location

If you enable geofencing features, the app may access your location in the background to provide timely notifications when you approach a bell. You can disable this feature at any time in your device settings.

6.3 Location Privacy

Your real-time location is never shared with other users. Only the locations you explicitly set for your bells are visible to users who have access to those bells.

7. Push Notifications

By using TapToRing, you agree to receive push notifications for:

  • Bell ring events
  • Replies from bell owners
  • Geofencing alerts (if enabled)
  • Important service updates

You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or in the app settings.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Our Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content), features, and functionality are owned by TapToRing and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

8.2 Trademarks

TapToRing and related logos are trademarks of TapToRing. You may not use these trademarks without our prior written permission.

8.3 Third-Party Materials

The Service may include sounds, images, or other materials provided by third parties. All such materials are the property of their respective owners.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Service Availability

10.1 No Warranty of Availability

We strive to provide reliable service, but we do not guarantee that:

  • The Service will always be available or uninterrupted
  • The Service will be error-free or secure
  • Any defects will be corrected
  • Notifications will always be delivered

10.2 Maintenance

We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance that may temporarily make the Service unavailable.

10.3 Device Requirements

You are responsible for:

  • Obtaining and maintaining compatible devices
  • Internet connectivity
  • Any carrier data charges

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • The Service will meet your requirements
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • The results obtained from using the Service will be accurate or reliable
  • Any errors in the Service will be corrected

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAPTORING SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the Service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information stored therein
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code transmitted through the Service
  • Any errors or omissions in any content or for any loss or damage incurred as a result of your use of any content posted, emailed, transmitted, or otherwise made available through the Service

IN NO EVENT SHALL TAPTORING'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO TAPTORING IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TapToRing, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
  • Any content you post or share through the Service

14. Termination

14.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by:

  • Deleting your account in the app settings
  • Uninstalling the app
  • Contacting us at info@taptoring.app

14.2 Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
  • Extended periods of inactivity

14.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
  • Your account and data may be deleted
  • Any bells you own may become inaccessible to shared users

15. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services, including:

  • Google Sign-In (Google LLC)
  • Apple Sign-In (Apple Inc.)
  • Firebase (Google LLC)
  • Map providers

We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of third-party services. You acknowledge and agree that we shall not be liable for any damage or loss caused by your use of any third-party services.

16. Apple Watch

If you use TapToRing on Apple Watch:

  • The app requires a paired iPhone with TapToRing installed
  • Features may be limited compared to the iPhone version
  • Apple's Terms of Service also apply to your use of the Apple Watch app

17. Dispute Resolution

17.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which TapToRing operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

17.2 Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at info@taptoring.app. We'll try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting you via email.

17.3 Arbitration

If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for infringement of intellectual property rights.

18. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If we make material changes, we will:

  • Notify you via email or through the Service
  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page
  • Give you an opportunity to review the changes before they take effect

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

19. Miscellaneous

19.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TapToRing regarding the Service.

19.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

19.3 Waiver

No waiver of any term of these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term.

19.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

19.5 Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure to perform our obligations where such failure results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
